Tomorrow we're going to Southwold for the day- some friends are staying up there.

I'm really looking forward to it- I love the seaside and Southwold is such a lovely unspoilt place.

Hi Maria,

Hope you had a really lovely time with your friends xx

...being a nosey sorta soul I have just spent a happy half hour investigating Southwold online! I was intrigued as it is somewhere we have never been but sounds just like the kind of place which should be on our to do list of places to go see one day....

I could almost smell the sea......

& I have been reading about the lighthouse, have had a virtual look at the Church of St Edmund, found out that David Copperfield was filmed here with Laurence Olivier, Ron Moody and Susan Hampshire amongst the cast, Iris was also filmed here with Judi Dench and several other fim and book connections,

I didn't realise before that this is where the Latitude music festival takes place, sounds like a good time to plan our future trip!

...and when we do visit one day my plan is to pop into Ives teashop and ice cream parlour which looks lovely!

Hope you enjoyed your time spent there Maria, as much as I enjoyed my virtual tour! xxXxx

Hi Lizzie
Never go in the winter its very cold there .
Cos i lived near by and also in Southwold in a live in job .Bed and Breakfast is double there .

The peir is new there was a tumble down one there before .
Never swim in the sea there it dips and tideal it has the river mouth up the top end small ships come in boats and you can buy fish
River blyth

it has beach huts costiing £30 .000
you can see it all in a half day if got a car to go to Harbour end you can get the boat to next door village cant spell it but its a 20 mile car ride round the river .

take some extra money if you do go as every thing is extra there .
yeap that coffee shop is nice been alterd since i lived there

light house you can go in pay
Adams brewary is there no tours
Used to be dray horses on a wednesday pulling the beer round the pubs but i looked for the sables last year and not there .

its in Suffolk of course i was born 10 miles down the road

Hi everyone

We had a lovely day thanks, although it was rather sunny it wasn't very warm so I didn't go for a paddle- too cowardly!

Liz- chrissie is right- you can do it in half a day and it is expensive- but it's still a lovely relaxing day out. what I really like is the fact that it's not commercialised like so many seasides so you don't get the hot dog etc stalls. In fact- you have to look hard to even buy a stick of rock!

HI Maria

I'm glad you enjoyed your day at Southwold. We spent a week there a few years ago, it's a lovely small market town. We visited Adnams Brewery, and I remember one night we had swordfish for our evening meal. I think since we went the pier has been refurbished, so we missed out on that.
